"The most impressive thing about the Tenryu Project this year, was a wrestler named Ray Paloma. That guy was shocking! At first, I didn't know him at all and thought they had booked a foreign wrestler, and so I was surprised to see a little old Japanese man doing something flashy! What's more, his admission song is Kenji Sawada's "Stripper" and he goes around the ring with a spotlight on him before he enters. This small old man, who is only as tall as a chair at the venue, is cool (laughs).

During the match, his butt popped out with perfect timing*. When I first saw it, I thought "What is this playful guy?!" But before I knew it, I was addicted to him. My relatives seem to be watching me during Ray Paloma matches, as I am watching them with so much fun (laughs)"

(DOVE) Ray Paloma - The mask is torn and sudden chance

Hey! Como estas! Nine years have passed since Dove wrestling started, and with the belt the "Dove World Heavyweight" established as the pinnacle, the battle over the belt was unfolding.

The first champion was Yuko Miyamoto. Sakigake defeated Miyamoto in the second title defense, and reigned over Dove as the ace. His uncouth fighting style fascinated fans. 

In 2009, a number one contenders match was set up with the winner winning the right to challenge for the belt. It was Ray Paloma vs Kabuki Kid. Suddenly, Ray was on fire at this chance as at that time Sakigake had overtaken him in both popularity and ability. But, should he win this match, then he should be back in the mainstream again! Inspired, he was able to defeat villain Kabuki Kid, and won the right to challenge the belt in a match at Club Chinatown. 

However, at the moment when he pinned Kabuki Kid, the champion Sakigake rushed in and tore Ray's mask and ripped it off. For the masked man, masks are more important than life. Sakigake said, "Hey! Former ace! Do you think it is possible to challenge so easily? If I am putting this belt on the line, you put something too!" The important thing is, of course, the mask to which Ray replied "Hey, Sakigake! I will put this mask on the line when I challenge you!" Thus on July 19th 2009, the title match that would significantly change Ray's pro wrestling life took place at the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Exhibition Centre (to be continued).

*Born February 20th 1975 in Hiroshima, after Sanyo High School, he graduated from the Osaka Resort & Sports College. At the age of 25 he moved to Mexico alone and made his debut in April 2000. After returning to Japan, Dove Pro Wrestling was launched in his hometown of Hiroshima, and he is currently active in other promotions. His main title in Dove is the World Heavyweight Championship. He runs a Mexican restaurant "Acapulco" in Hiroshima.

(DOVE) "Don't underestimate corona" Active pro wrestlers disclose their fear of infection.

Pro wrestlers are disclosing their fear of the coronavirus infection. The interviewee is an active pro wrestler based in Hiroshima, who revealed his life for more than two weeks with medical treatment at home, hotel and hospital.  

"I felt unexpectedly weak. Hahaha. Don't mess with corona, it is formidable". 

Ray Paloma, a 46 year old pro wrestler who lives in Hiroshima, and has thrilled audiences with intense and splendid fights and aerial attacks with a trained body, was suddenly stricken with coronavirus. 

"My temperature was 37 degrees Celsius at that night, and it rose to about 38.3. The next day, on the 20th, I had a PCR test at the hospital and was judged to be "positive". I was instructed to "isolate at home" because of the large number of patients. Since I was at home I shut myself up in a room, and when I went to the bathroom I disinfected while moving around. As my family were at risk, meals were placed outside my room". 

Fortunately, his wife and their two children who live at home tested negative, but he was worried about the household being infective. 

"The children had to take a break from school for about ten days, and my wife also had to take a break from work. During that time, my eldest son was playing soccer and there was an important championship. I felt sorry for him that he couldn't play in the match."

On the 4th day after waiting at home, Ray moved to the medical treatment hotel by the car that came to pick him up. 

"The car picked up four patients and took us to the hotel all at once"

However, even after he entered the hotel his fever did not go down at all and the difficult situation continued, so he at the hotel he had an online medical examination and then went to the hospital. 

"I already had a pain in my lungs at that time, and when I had a x-ray, a blood test and a urine test, it was pneumonia and I was hospitalized. To lower the fever, I took 9 tablets of Avigan* in the morning and other medicine each morning, and was put on a drip infusion after lunch."

After over seventeen days of overcoming painful medical treatment, he was discharged on the 4th of the month. At the hospital he was supported by a certain concern. 

"The nurse bought a mask every morning and I took it with the message that I was grateful to have recovered and will do my best in pro wrestling. In that word I thought I was healed, and my heart was cleansed. However, I regret that I let my guard down and let Corona attack me as I had trained every day to defeat strong opponents. To be honest, in my case I am a pro wrestler and I am trying to recover. People shouldn't be weak and not care about disinfection, I think they should be pretty strong. Don't underestimate corona, it's tough, and there are mutant strains"

(DOVE) Notes from "BAR BRAWL IN NAGOYA 2021" Nagoya Sportiva Arena, 2nd May 2021

"It was another day when I fell in love with Dove"

The event took place in the hometown of the Kubota brothers, one of whom started a day in Dove with a breakfast of coffee and sweet bread. 

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the venue was only allowing 50 people in, YASSHI said even if there were only 20 people, it was more valuable to them than the Tokyo Dome being packed out. I am afraid I don't know the full attendance figure, but event itself took place in a bar.  

Kyohei Kinoshita is currently injured due to his shoulder, and so Jun Masaoka was drafted in to replace him. Kinoshita was still at the venue however, during the event he served as photographer\camera man, and put up a sign before the event saying "Kyohei Kinoshita Aid" and signed autographs. 

Shoichi Uchida handed out child support envelopes with his merchandise.

Shoichi Uchida entered by poking his baby doll through the curtain first, it was then handed to referee Yoshino. The doll was subject to pranks by Hide Kubota, who kidnapped it at one point, and didn't get in the ring until the count of 19. After the match Uchida stayed at ringside to second the others in their matches, and fans praised him for his efforts of sterilizing everything that the wrestlers came in contact with such as tables etc. 

Jun Masaoka and Naoki Tanizaki had a fight outside the ring almost immediately, with Tanizaki using a stool against Masoka, and Masaoka fighting back with (what looked like) an umbrella. At one point Tanizaki got rolled up in the outside mat as Yasu Kubota somersaulted on to him. 

The main event (which YASSHI called "painful", which wasn't surprising), also went to the outside and featured beer, which he and GUNSO toasted with, downed and then attacked each other with the empty cans. They slammed each other onto a pile of chairs and at the end cut their promos while lying on them (YASSHI) or sitting next to them (Gunso). 

There couldn't be the usual Tequila celebration (the wrestlers hand out shot glasses to fans, and everyone toasts together), but the usual celebratory circle was held. Instead of handshakes, Naoki Tanizaki put sterilizer on peoples palms.

On the 13th March, TTT Pro Wrestling held "ARRACK3" at Shinkiba 1stRING in Tokyo, where Kyohei Kinoshita of Dove Wrestling was crowned the CCW Canadian Heavyweight Champion. 

TTT (Total Triumph Team) was launched in January of last year by Guts Ishijima, who was influenced by Tarzan Goto, who with Mr Gannosuke as his teacher, launched the promotion in January last year with the idea of "unifying indie wrestling." Immediately after its launch, it suffered from the hardship of now holding events due to the epidemic of the new Coronavirus, but since resuming in July last year almost all events have been sold out. With the support of fans, it was decided to go to ShinjukuFACE for the first time on June 13th this year. 

At the time of writing, TTT has the CCW Canadian Heavyweight Championship belt as it's highest throne. The belt has a connection to the now defunct New Tokyo Pro, as Bad News Allen (who has been active in New Japan and WWF) and Shigeo Okumura (currently known as OKUMURA, and who is currently active in CMLL), have a history of holding the belt. 

In January of this year, TTT ace, Shunsuke Sayama, held the belt but at the February event, Kyohei Kinoshita of Dove, took the pinfall directly from Sayama and announced his challenge for the CCW title. In the main event, a match was held which would predict the future of the indie wrestling world where the 24 year old Sayama, took on the challenge of the 23 year old Kinoshita. Sayama, from the PANCRASE dojo, attacked with a sharp kick and a submission technique. Taking advantage of his lightness, Kinoshita developed a concentrated attack on Sayama's neck and making use of a dropkick, he developed this towards a German Suplex Hold. Kinoshita, who suffered from Sayama's crossface in the middle stage of the match, showed his strength as the same crossface was repeated in the final stages. Even if Sayama goes for a winning pattern with a buzz kick and a steep backdrop, Kinoshita screamed and kicked out with guts. Dodging the high kick by Sayama, who was growing impatient for the win, he won with two German Suplex holds in a row. 

Guts Ishijima, who is currently absent due to injury, appeared and announced to Kinoshita, who was delighted to have his first singles belt, both his return and his challenge to the CCW title. 

Kinoshita who weighs about 70kg to Guts 120kg, which is a difference of 50kg, acknowledged Gut's challenge and showed his dignity as a champion saying, "I am on a tremendous roll right now. No matter who the enemy is, I feel like I will be able to do it! I am telling everyone here that I will throw Guts in a German Suplex. Look forward to next month."

Dove is a promotion that is actively mainly in Hiroshima and Osaka, with the theme of a "fusion of pro wrestling and music". With club music playing at the events, and the crowd all standing, Dove have established a uniqueness called "Dove Style". The founder, Gunso, made his name in deathmatches with his tag "Unchain" with Jun Kasai, while Ray Paloma has gained enthusiastic fans with his solid technique and sexy fight style that he learned in Mexico. In addition, the former DRAGON GATE "brother" YASSHI, Naoki Tanizaki, Kenshin Chikano and others also belong to Dove. The ability as a promotion is also certified in producing YO-HEY and HAYATA, who are currently active in Noah. 

Kinoshita learned pro wrestling by attending a class held by Osaka Pro from an early age, and after joining Dove, molded by his seniors he grew to be a wrestler who can handle all styles from orthodox to comical. With his solid technique, and spirited fight, his small physique and friendly personality, has established his popularity as a "little brother character". 

Kinoshita, who is sought after with offers and travels all over the country, talked about his dream of communicating the appeal of pro wrestling to children, saying, "When I was little, I saw pro wrestlers and thought they were "cool", and so I became one. Nowadays, I think there are fewer opportunities for small children to see that. The matches in Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kobe have been arranged for TTT next month, so everyone from small children to adults who have been watching pro wrestling for a long time can say, "This young man has a belt!". I want to make pro wrestling exciting!".

(DOVE) Event recap ~ "STRUGGLE FOR PRIDE 2021" (Marina Hop Mermaid Space, Sunday March 7th 2021)

"My way of life, or rather, the way of life now, is different. I want you to see me. Me."

Ray Paloma has challenged three times for the Dove championship; the first was in 2009 when he challenged Kaoru, the second was in the 2015 when he challenged GUNSO, and now seven years later this is his third, and judging from the reaction of both the fans and the Dove wrestlers at ringside, this may well have been his last, and because of that and how much Ray gave of himself, fans were reduced to tears. 

Ray was joined before the match by old Dove friend, Tsuyoshi Okada, who also acted as his second, with the rest of the Dove roster on the outside. 

"One-on-one combat between the man who has been supporting Dove, and the man who carries the current Dove"

Although Kenshin Chikano is younger than Ray (and does not have gout), Ray refused to either give up or give in, and even pulled a moonsault of the drawer. However, the match came to a time out draw at 25 minutes. So far, a new challenger has not come forward. 

The event was streamed on Twitcast. This was not a free stream, however, and it can still be viewed for 1,500 yen until Sunday, March 14th 2021, 23:59 JST. Once purchased you can view it as many times as you wish before the deadline.

(DOVE) "Life as a wrestler on the line", challenger Ray Paloma to challenge the Champion, Chikano, at Dove's Hiroshima event on the 7th March

Dove will hold their Hiroshima event, "STRUGGLE FOR PRIDE 2021", on March 7th at the Hiroshima Marina Hop. Doors will open at 15:00. 

In the main event, Dove will hold the World Heavyweight Championship, where Ray Paloma will challenge Kenshin Chikano, the 10th champion. Ray, who is aiming to regain the title for the first time since December 2016, expressed his heroic decision saying, "This may be my last challenge, and I will challenge with my life as a wrestler on the line". 

GUNSO, YASSHI, Naoki Tanizaki, Shoichi Uchida, Kabuki Kid and Kyohei Kinoshita will also participate. The venue is reducing the number of seats and taking measures against Corona. Advance tickets are on sale.

The event

The event was broadcast live by NicoNico as a PPV. You can watch a little of the show however, but only the opening and about ten minutes or so of the first match. You may need to be a subscriber to the service. 

The night started with Dove ("BROTHER YASSHI", Tiida, Kyohei Kinoshita, Naoki Tanizaki, Shoichi Uchida, Ray Paloma and an unsmiling Kendo Kashin), made their way to the ring in front of a sold out crowd.  GUNSO and Kabuki Kid (both decked out in suits and ties were not on the card much to CIMA'S disappointment), where in the arena but did not join the others until the end, when to celebrate a successful show, they did the traditional Dove ending. Earlier, CIMA had also commented on the "pungent" smell of cigarettes and liquor coming from the Dove dressing room, which had spilled over to the STRONGHEARTS one. YASSHI kicked things off by using fighting words against STRONGHEARTS and the upcoming title challenge, STRONGHEARTS came to the ring for a verbal showdown. 

The first match seemed to be a surprise one, as Ray Paloma when travelling down to Tokyo, had commented that his own card had not been announced. During the match, Ray tried to menace Kenshin Chikano (who had new ring gear, which people commented on\thirsted over) with his hip swivels, Chikano remained unimpressed and Naoki Tanizaki blindsided Ray. Ray was to lose the pre-match, but swore in the microphone afterwards he would win the title match, which will take place in Hiroshima on the 7th March. 

Shoichi Uchida (described as "the wrestler who makes you feel sorrow"), came to the ring clutching his baby doll figure, where it sat in the corner surrounded by Kenshin Chikano (who apparently played with it's feet), and Naoki Tanizaki. Later, the fight went into the crowd. Later in the evening, Tanizaki helped film part of the main event, in which the champions retained, and TiiDa came away with a slight (but working) knee injury.

(DOVE) VAPER wrestler Naoki Tanizaki's Handle with Care Battle News! ~ Dove's fight

This is Naoki Tanizaki from Dove Wrestling. The second round of the rivalry between Dove Wrestling and STRONGHEARTS has begun. 

On the 14th, the form became a box office on the part of STRONGHEARTS, with each match being heated to the highest level. It was said to be like Style Wars, where unyielding pride collided. This was something that was said to be relentlessly transmitted by both the local group and on TwitCast. As expected, the fight burned. Even as a second, I feel like fighting. 

Don't misunderstand me, I didn't really care about the outcome of the day. When the Dove tune hits in the middle of the main event in the enemy's home, I felt the heat of the venue rise and accelerate in a moment, and become Dove style. I wondered if it wasn't only the customers, but also the opponents T-HAWK and El Lindaman also, that were all crazy and with a happy expression. 

They also got into the Dove style. With the raising of the tension of the customers, when the tension of the opponent explodes, and the anger comes out, I thought this was Dove, and a Dove style win regardless of victory or defeat. 

As it happens, El Lindaman and CIMA will challenge Yasshi and TiiDa for the tag belts on the 28th February. I believe that they will be sure to defend.

(DOVE) EVENT RECAP: THE GYM WARS #54 ~ RAY PALOMA'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

As ever with these dojo shows, I don't have a card or many results, but today there was a special celebration held at the Tiger Gym dojo, as Ray Paloma celebrated his 46th birthday on February 20th (no, he's not 460 as Naoki Tanizaki seems to think, although this could have been a drunken typo), and Dove held a birthday party for him on the 21st. Ray was suffering a gout attack at the time of the party, but vowed to "celebrate even if I have to crawl". I think there must have been a tag with Shoichi Uchida and Ray, as Naoki Tanazaki said they were "in love" with each other. 

The roster paid tribute to Ray in their own different ways. 

~ BROTHER Yasshi turned up (cigarette in mouth, smoke blowing in the breeze) with a present in hand. 

~ Naoki Tanizaki spoke of a legend that when Ray walks through Hiroshima, people gaze at him in affection (this means Ray is a God, who cannot walk the streets without being mobbed).

~  "The dojo was full of love. It was Ray Paloma love" (Kyohei Kinoshita)

~ Shoichi Uchida said that since Ray was "descending on Osaka", he was taking the chance to increase his stamina. 

Tetsuya Goto (who we saw earlier at GymWars 53) was excited to be back in Dove, although he was pinned by Kabuki Kid in a singles match. He says he is frustrated to lose to a technique he currently uses. The referee of the event was Kenichi Yoshida (the other one had fled far far away to FREEDOMS, probably out of long experience of being at these types of events, especially when Ray and Uchida team together.)

At the end of the event, the Dove roster posed in the ring with Ray for a commemorative picture (Gunso was not in it, so perhaps he took the picture, as he was definitely on the card). Ray was given gifts by the fans (wine, what looked like a candle, flowers etc) and from the roster he received a cake. The last words on the event should go to Ray, who said that despite his gout and at the age of 46, he was still "bouncing and dancing in the ring". 

Lets leave the talk of his thong out of it.

(DOVE) Event recap: The Gym Wars #53

"I was terrified of the technique I saw for the first time! A big smile while screaming and giggling, ran round the opponent Gunso in circles who had sat down, and then unsteadily spun round in circles"

...lets just say Dove had a very special little guest visit.

I don't really have too much information on today's show apart from a few bits of information. There wasn't any continuation of the earlier storyline, probably because Ultimate Spider Junior was not in attendance. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, attendance was limited to twenty people only (and they all turned up with beer). The event was streamed through TwitCasting (350 yen). You can view this until Saturday, February 27th 23:59 JST.

I'm not really too sure of the card, but Yuto Kikuchi was excited to be back in Dove, and Shoichi Uchida won the tag match he was in with "BROTHER" Yasshi (I am unsure as to who the other person was, but they fought against Tetsuya Goto. 

Kabuki Kid was also a referee during the event.

"The clash doesn't end today"

Event was sold out on the door, with the show being streamed live on TWITCH as a PPV. Dove & STRONGHEARTS had a skirmish the day before on the 30th. 

Kabuki Kid was not actively on the card, but he came to the venue and participated as an announcer. He drank a Highball on the way home, reflecting on the future possibilities of Dove video and distribution.

Gunso & "brother" YASSHI vs Shoichi Uchida & Kenshin Chikano 

YASSHI got on the microphone after the match, and inflamed the war between Dove and STRONGHEARTS, in which he declared the start of the battle between the two teams. 

WINNER: Gunso with a diving headbutt on Shoichi Uchida (9 minutes, 27 seconds)

Brawls between the seconds broke out, which caused the match to go "No Contest" when the brawl entered the ring and long suffering referee, Yoshino, was dropkicked from behind. Match closed out with both Dove & STRONGHEARTS facing off, Dove were all holding chairs, and Naoki Tanizaki had a chair duel with CIMA. As the venue faded to black, both sides left the ring leaving their weapons in a pile. The war will be continued on 14th February. 

Winner: No contest, match was abandoned after 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
